A 5-year-old Indianapolis girl was killed late Sunday when she apparently ran into the path of a pickup truck.

The victim was with a group of children attempting to cross 42nd Street near Wittfield Street at about 9 p.m. Sunday when she was struck by a truck driven by a 40 year old Indianapolis man. The driver was taken to a hospital for a blood draw, standard procedure in accidents involving a fatality, but police said initial indications were that alcohol and speeding were not factors.
